An exceptional opportunity is available for an experienced Legal Counsel to join a sophisticated, high-performing financial markets organisation in Sydney on an 8-month parental leave contract.
This is a broad, commercially focused role within a fast-paced, technology-led business operating across Asia-Pacific. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, providing pragmatic legal advice on commercial arrangements, technology and procurement, and corporate and regulatory matters.
The role will suit a commercially minded lawyer who enjoys working closely with the business, is comfortable navigating complexity and ambiguity, and can build trusted relationships across a diverse stakeholder group.
The Opportunity
You will provide practical, risk-focused legal advice across a varied portfolio, including:
Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements, including software, technology, IT procurement, outsourcing, supply and market-related contracts.
Supporting corporate and commercial projects involving data, privacy, intellectual property and artificial intelligence.
Advising on financial services, regulatory and governance matters.
Advising management on legal risk, governance and reporting.
About You
You will be a commercially astute lawyer with:
6–10 years’ post-admission experience gained in leading private practice and/or in-house, with in-house experience preferred.
Strong experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts.
A self-starting, collaborative approach and confidence working directly with senior stakeholders.
Excellent judgement, communication skills and the ability to prioritise across a broad workload.
